South Ribble Ramblers

Responsibilities of Walkers during Group Walks.
A walk leader will have considered various safety aspect to a walk including Covid issues.
However, particularly during walks while Covid 19 is an issue, each walker also has responsibilities.
Some relate to yourself, some relate to your interaction with other walkers.

Vulnerabilities
If you have vulnerabilities, you are responsible for considering any risks to yourself.
The general risks are mentioned below but please consider them in relation to your own situation.

Avoiding Contact
Some members may wish to maintain a social distance.
Please be respectful of that.
Although Covid risks have reduced somewhat, there is merit in avoiding unnecessary "bunching up".
Please give people space at bottlenecks like styles & gates.
When passing other people, it is considerate to give them (and yourself) some space. Step aside.

Infection Risks
It seems a bit unclear how much infection by touch is still an issue.
-It is advisable to sanitise your hands before eating.
-Sanitising when arriving ( i.e. before handling gates etc.) and at the end of the walk is prudent.
-it is not a requirement to use gloves or masks but you are welcome to do so.
-And please be respectful of others who wish to wear masks.

-DO NOT rush to a walker who has an incident, see next.

Assistance
Although the risks of infection are much reduced, it is worth considering how to safetly help a walker who has an accident
- For a serious incident the leader should immediately dial 999,
-Perhaps minimise skin to skin contact or closeness to breathing.
