Pendle at your pace 5 miles or less 5mi (M) Preston Group
Pendle at your pace. Sunday 4th October 2026 10:00 start. Have you ever wanted to climb Pendle Hill but never tried to? This walk is your opportunity to do just that. We will start from the road leading to Lower Pendle Farm, the nearest point to the foot of the hill and over 450 feet less climb if starting at Barley. The walk will have a number of experienced leaders in the group so no one will be left to fend for themselve as they make the 600 foot accent up the impressive hill. All the route up is on quality paths and steps, and the way down is on a well used track. After depending the hill, there will be an option to drop into Barley to have refreshments at the Cabin or make your way back to your car. Dropping into Barley, there is a option to come back to the start by climbing around 450 feet out of the valley, back along the route we dropped down, or a mile or so of road walking back to the car. The finish time is flexible and it depends on the time taken to climb the hill, there will be no pressure put on anyone to walk faster than the are comfortable doing.

Fairsnape Fell from Calder Vale via Bleasdale 11.5 miles moderate 11.5mi (M) Hike On Lancashire Group
Let's get a good long walk in ahead of the clocks changing and slowing us down! There are great views from Fair Snape Fell on this walk as we go from Calder Vale around the back of the Fell for a steady but not too strenuous ascent. On a good day you can see the peaks of Cumbria, Yorkshire and Lancashire.. We drop down a short, winding but steep track to the bottom of the Fell and come back on good tracks across the Bleasdale Estate. On the tops there are short stretches of peat hags which can be wet and boggy so boots are needed for this walk. Walk not ideal for dogs as there's a range of livestock en route.= cows, sheep and pheasants/ grouse. Given the height and nature of the walk, it isnt suitable if there are high winds or heavy rain. In this instance, I will offer a low level alternative from the same point but will update the walk details the day before if that's the case.
Calder Vale ST Johns C of E Primary and church. There is car parking for the school and church (although a service will be on) but there are also options to park on the side of the track as you approach the school. It is best to approach the school from Oakenclough/ Delph Lane and to set your Sat Nav for the school itself rather than the postcode. Contact: {SD538463, PR3 1SR}

Pen y Ghent, skirt it or over it 10.5mi (S) Preston Group
Meet at the carpark with the hay bales wrapped in black plastic, road B6479. Nearest post code DB24 0EH. Do not turn into Austick Road, Helwith bridge, but bear right. Boots on and ready to go 10am. Expected finish time 3.30pm but sometimes walks can get delayed. This is a lovely walk, in a peaceful part of the Yorkshire Dales. On a clear day we will see the Three Peaks of Yorkshire, and Ribblehead Viaduct. this is a 10.5 mile walk, split into two halves...the lower level walk we skirt Pen y Ghent, but for the fitter walkers you have the option to go up and over PG (but you must have a good level of fitness to do this aspect). We all walk together for the first 3 miles at which point the fitter group will branch off and climb PG. There is some scrambling before the summit, this path is technical and care must be taken. Over the summit (694m) there are a great number of stone steps to descend. These are irregular, and steep. The scramble and the steps maybe slippy if wet. If the weather is deemed unsuitable for the PG summit the group will follow the lower level walk. Both groups will meet up at Hull Pot for a 20 minute lunch break. This is half way round. We all follow lower level path which starts with a gradual 1 1/2 mile gentle climb to a height of 1321 feet. This is a stoney, uneven path. We then descend though a field, and a road before ascending another, stoney gentle climb apt 1 1/2 miles to Hull Pot. From Hull Pot we all return together. One last slight hill and then it is down hill and then flat for the last 4 miles. The last two miles we follow a narrow, well worn path along the River Ribble. This path has some erosion, over grown in parts with exposed tree roots, and stones. It will be muddy if it has rained. The last part of the walk is through fields (sheep) and a short walk along couple of country lanes.

The first walk of our Reeth weekend away. Our Sunday walk will be for those on the weekend only to give us some choice in route. This takes us past Old Gang Mills- smelt mills- and up towards Surrender Bridge. From there we will ascend Reeth High Moor along tracks and survey some more great industrial heritage of the area. We will drop down and use valley paths back into Reeth. There is height gain up onto the moor but quite a lot of sections are decent tracks. Boots still needed for the moor though!
